Beaver Scouts

Beavers are usually aged between six and eight years old, though they can be as young as five and three quarters.

They usually meet weekly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities.

They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps and sleepovers. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them.

Joining

Earlier entry is at the Beaver Scout Leader's discretion (for example, to allow someone a little bit younger to join at the same time as their friends).

Structure

A group of Beavers is called a Colony, and each Colony can be split up into smaller groups called Lodges.

Beavers have a Promise and Motto, but there is not a Beaver Scout Law. The concepts of the Scout Law should be presented to Beavers through games, storytelling and other informal devices.

1st Gilfach & 1st Sirhowy's Toilet Roll Challenge
16/04/2020 By Elizabeth O'Malley

Jenni knows her ADC Beavers loves a challenge and finds it difficult to say no! So once tagged on the infamous toilet roll challenge on a facebook post we had a quick discussion and decided to put it out as a challenge to our respective Beaver Colonies and put a video together. Obviously the other sections of our Groups were so jealous that they had to get involved -especially both GSL's (you will see how much they wanted to be involved if you watch the video!).

Jenni put all the videos together and added music to it, all I did was set it as a challenge and forwarded the clips! Thank you Jenni for all the hard work, it looks great and will be a good memory to look back upon when this is all over.

We now challenge you all to join in! Maybe we could even make a whole CRAI District version? Or even better lets create a CRAI necker flip video?? No idea what I am on about watch out for Lee in the video.

1st Sirhowy Valley visit to Tab Life Centre
06/03/2020 By Siobhan Haywood

Last night we had a wonderful visit to the "Tab Life Centre" with the energetic Pastor Dave. He showed us around the centre, explained how they help families with the food bank, played games, sang songs, talked to the about the most bought book in the whole world (it was World Book Day after all), amazed us with his A4 piece of paper which was his ticket to Heaven, folded and ripped not only did he manage to make it into a cross but the pieces removed spelt the word "Life", we were very impressed! we then finished the visit with cookies and squash. The Beavers loved it, so many smiling faces for the whole visit, the Pastors enthusiasm was definitely contagious!
