Alternative Monopoly Run
19/03/2020 By Sebastian White

1st Sirhowy valley scouts recently attended the Alternative Monopoly Run in central London.
The weekend began at 5pm on Friday 13th March when we set off on our way to "The Big Smoke"
Following the safety Briefing at 10pm, then it was off to the accommodation, for a good nights sleep ready for the big day.
Saturday morning was soon here, so it was up, breakfast, then straight out on our way into the big city. (It was at this point that I discovered the underground was not as confusing as I thought)
So here we are, in the centre of London, and what do we do.........have a really enjoyable day in the centre of London, that was totally youth led from start to finish.
Much fun was had by all, (even if we did walk over 15 miles in 1 day), everyone was still smiling at the end of the event, which said to me it was a job well done. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to do this or a similar event again.
So If anyone is ever thinking of doing either this or a similar event, I would highly recommend it. You definitely won't regret it. (Spending a whole day in central London with 7 scouts, is not as stressful as I thought it would be).
Finally, a massive thank you need's to go to Dave cook for organising the event, Plus our GSL and ADC Scouts Gareth, for doing all the driving and assisting with the planning, Blue Beaver Mari and Akela Claire for coming along to assist with everything. It wouldn't have been possible without all of the help from everyone involved.
